We had a fabulous and very successful time taking part in both the Coastal Garden Festival and a plant/seed swap at Ilfracombe Library over the 21st and 22nd of May.

The Earth Repair Shop team found it very uplifting to see so many residents and visitors to Ilfracombe passionate about plants and the planet. Team members, Netti and Sophia gave talks on the shop's ongoing campaigns and enjoyed chatting with many of the attendees of the festival about our commitments to make Ilfracombe more sustainable.

Earth Repair volunteers, Jimmy and Tymek, both did an outstanding job at the festival, sorting and guiding visitors to recycle correctly. As a result, festival organisers said that they only needed a black bin a quarter of the estimated size for uncontaminated, non-recyclable waste. A great result!

As well as signing up more Earth Repairers to our Pledge for the Planet campaign, we were delighted to reveal our new shop product; folding litter pickers and bag hoops, made from recycled fishing gear by Waterhaul.

We will be selling these in the shop during our opening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but you can also currently place orders with us via email or messenger. At just £12 each, they're a bargain to save the planet! A must-have for those working towards their Litter Picker Hero pledge badge.

Meanwhile, away from the festival, Campaigns and Premises Manager, Jade spent a few hours at the library in Ilfracombe with a plant and seed swap. It was great to see so many local residents with such an interesting variety of plants and seeds to swap and donate.

From tomato seedlings to spider plants, sunflower to rudbeckia seeds, there was a great variety to choose from and many people left excited to have a go at growing something new. Our plant and seed swap is available during our shop opening hours, so please make sure you come along and see what's in shop, there's so much on offer after this great green weekend!
